Looking for New Members & Friends

We are a small, but very friendly, sociable group and would look forward to welcoming new people of all ages as performing/non-performing members (or musicians to accompany us).

Though the works of Gilbert & Sullivan provide the main focus of our dramatic activities in the early Spring-Summer - next year's production will be Merrie England at Bakewell - we perform a varied repertoire of other concert pieces (ranging from Mozart to "The Beatles") throughout the year performed all over Derbyshire, including at Chatsworth and in Derby.

So, why not come along and join us?

We meet at All Saints Church Hall, Smedley Street, Matlock on Friday evenings at 7.30 pm. - after which "we retire to a local hostelry"!

Alernatively, think about becoming a Friend of the Society - to whom we are also grateful for their encouragement and support for all our productions.

Friends receive advance notification of productions and early booking, plus a free ticket for each of our two annual major productions in December (usually a Themed Concert) and June (our major staged production).

Further information about any of the above, please use the Contact Us form.

Where are the Yeomen, the Yeomen of England?

At the Medway Community Centre, Bakewell, in June 2012 we will be staging performances of a newly adapted version of "Merrie England" by Edward German & Basil Hood. As this is a departure from our usual fare of G&S, we hope that this production will not only be the highlight our 20th anniversary, but mark the celebration of one Elizabethan era in the Jubilee of another!

Although the show itself is not now commonly seen in production, many of the songs in "Merrie England", such as "Oh, peaceful England!", "The English Rose (Dan Cupid hath a garden)" & "The Yeomen of England", are well known as standard concert pieces.

We are looking to recruit new members (particularly men) to perform in this exciting new challenge! We are small, but very friendly, sociable group and would look forward to welcoming new people of all ages as performing/non-performing members (or musicians to accompany us).
